Development of diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines for parasitic diseases

Diagnosis, treatment, and prevention are all important for the control of protozoan diseases, but the development of effective technologies for all three is lagging behind. In our laboratory, we are developing technologies for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of protozoan diseases through research on (a) search for antigens useful for diagnosis, (b) production of pathogen-specific monoclonal antibodies, (c) development of simple diagnostic techniques, (d) therapeutic effects of natural compounds against protozoan diseases, and (e) vector control using insecticides and invertebrate immunity.
